DearProf.:Mynameis().IamgoingtoapplyforthePhDprogramintheDepartmentDepartmentofPharmaceuticsatUtrechtUniversity.Meanwhile,Ihavereceivedmymasterdegreetwomonthsago.Iwouldliketoexplorethepossibilityofdoingmyresearchinyourgroup.GraduatedfrommajorofPolymerMaterialsandEngineering,WuhanUniversityofTechnologyinJune2009asabachelor,IhavegotanextensiveandintensiveeducationwithhighcourseGPArankingtop2%inmymajor.Duetomyexcellentacademicperformance,IwasexemptedofthegraduateentranceexamandacceptedasamasterstudentmajoringinbiomaterialsandtissueengineeringbySoutheastUniversity,oneofthetop10universityinScienceandEngineeringinChina.Myresearchinterestisin:nanomaterials,surfacescienceanddrugdeliverysystem.OneprojectinSoutheastUniversityistryingtomodifyelectrospunnanofibrousmembraneswithantibacterialandeasy-cleaningproperties.Asanactivemethodtopreventsurfacebiofouling,modifyingsurfacesthroughdirectgraftingantibacterialagentswouldcausetheaccumulationofdeadcells,whichmaydecreasethepermeatefluxofthemembranes.Inaddition,thedeadbacterialwouldserveasnutritionforthethegrowthofthesubsequentbacteria.Tosolvetheseproblems,weimpartedhydrophilicflexiblespacersorusedlayer-by-layermethodologytoobtainthemultifunctionalnanofibrousmembranes.(OnepaperinthisprojectwasacceptedbyJournalofMembraneScience,andanotherpaperhasbeensubmittedtoLangmuir)Duringthemasterstudies,Ihavecontributed6EnglishSCIpapers(4ofthosehavebeencompletelyaccepted).Apartfromthis,Ialsoparticipatedinvariousnationalcompetitions,suchasNationalGraduateMathematicalContestinModeling(2010),TheChallengeCup-NationalUniversityStudentExtracurricularAcademicScienceandTechnologyWorkCompetition(2010)andwonseveralimportantprices.Theseexperiencescanhelpmealotinfurtherstudies.IdevelopedstrongacademicinterestinyourresearchprogramwhenIcameacrossyourwebsite.IfoundwhatIhavedoneinthefieldsofsurfacescience,nanomaterialsandfunctionalmaterialsmatchwithyourproject.Ialsoholdthebeliefthatmycomprehensiveknowledgeandresearchexperiencewouldcontributealottoyourprojects.Ifyouareinterestedinmyapplicationpleaseletmeknow.Yourtimelyreplywillbemorethanappreciated!PS:myCV,academictranscriptstogetherwithselectedpublicationsareattached.Withmybestwishes,()
