Distinguishedguests,ladiesandgentlemen.Goodmorningtoeveryone,andthankyou,forjoiningus,atthe2ndClimateResilientOpenPartnershipforFoodSecurity.Tooureminentspeakersandallparticipantswhohavecomefromalloverworld,IamgreatlyhonoredandpleasedtowelcomeyoutoHangzhou.OnbehalfofZhejiangUniversity,weareindeedhonoredtohaveyouherewithus.ZhejiangUniversityisacomprehensiveresearchuniversitywithdistinctivefeaturesandanationalaswellasinternationalimpact.Wefocusonassiduousstudyandresearch,andscienceandtechnologicalinnovation,andwehavelaunchedanumberofinternationalhigh-endacademicplatformsandgatheredmasters,scholarsandhigh-levelresearch.Inrecentyears,ZhejiangUniversitymaintainsaleadingpositioninChinainoutputpublicationsandpatents.IntheprevioussessionconvenedattheUniversityofLeeds,specialistsfromaroundtheworldhasdiscussedaboutcriticalfactorsinfluencingfoodsecurity,andexploredstrategiestodevelopsustainableandclimateresilientcroppingsystems.Andhereweareagain,nowinHangzhou,atZhejiangUniversity,tocontinuethisexceptionalcourseofglobalfoodsecurity.Asacontinuationofthefirstsession,weremainconcernedaboutensuringagriculturalproductiononconditionofclimatechange.Duringtheworkshop,weexpecttomakesufficientcommunicationonmultiplescalesanddisciplines,makedetailedplanningoftheprogrambetweenparticipatingorganizations,andcomeupwithfeasibleapproachestostrengtheninternationalcooperationandadvancethefrontierofagriculturalscience.TheworkshopisalsoagreatchanceforZhejiangUniversitytopromoteacademicexchangeswithotherinstitutions.NowadaysZhejiangUniversityisstrivingtobuilditselfintoaninnovativecomprehensiveresearchuniversitywithaworld-classstatus.Withthesewords,Ihopethisworkshopprovidesyouwithaforumtoexchangescientificideas,inspirenewresearch,andnewcontactsforclosercooperation,sowecantogetherenvisagethefutureofapromisingdevelopmentofallrelateddisciplines.Thankyouverymuch.Distinguishedguests,colleagues,ladiesandgentlemen,Goodmorning.AsthePresidentofourcollege,theCollegeofEnvironmentalandResourceSciencesofZhejiangUniversity,firstlyIalsowanttoexpressourgraciousgreetingsandextendourcordialwelcometoallofyou.Then,Iwouldliketopresentmycomplimentstoallacademiccolleaguesandadministrativeauthoritiesparticipatinginthisopeningceremony.Wehavespecialistsfromdisciplinescoveringagriculture,environmentalscience,botany,microbiologyandeconomicsgatheredheretoday.Yourpresenceisanopportunitytoestablishnewscientificandprofessionalbridgesbetweenallrelatedfields.Ihopeourcollegecandoourbesttoperformthedutiesofthehostandcontributetothedevelopmentoftheproject.TheCollegeofEnvironmentalandResourceScienceswasestablishedinJuly,1999,andformedbytheamalgamationofcorrespondingdepartmentsandresearchinstitutionsfromtheoriginalZhejiangUniversity,HangzhouUniversityandZhejiangAgriculturalUniversity.Nowwehavethreedepartmentsandnineresearchinstitutes,coveringthefieldsofenvironmentalscienceandtechnology,environmentalengineering,pollutioncontroltechnology,soil-waterresourceandenvironment,agriculturalchemistry,agriculturalremotesensingandsoon.Withtheextraordinaryinterestinscientificresearchandstrongsenseofresponsibilityforenvironmentissues,wehaveconfidencetoprovideyouwithagoodacademicatmospherefortheworkshop.Thankyouallandwishyouagoodtimestayinghere.
