TheimpressionofPrideandPrejudiceThebook《PrideandPrejudice》iswrittenbyJaneAusten,afamousEnglishwriter.Istillrememberthefirstsentenceinthisbook.Itreads:Itisatruthwellknowntoalltheworldthatanunmarriedmaninpossessionofalargefortunemustinneedofawife.Theundertoneisveryclear:thefoundationofthemarriageatthattimeisnotemotionbutpossession.Loveseemstobeaperpetualthemeallthetime.AndthemainstoryinthebookPrideandPrejudiceisnotaexception.Thewritertellsusherviewsandattitudesaboutloveandmarriageinthisbook.ThenovelmainlytellsusalovestorybetweenElizabathandMr.Darcy.ItisataballthatElizabethmeetsMr.DarcyforthefirsttimeandhisprideandsuperciliousbehaviorshasleftElizabethaterribleimpression.ThisisthereasonwhyElizabeth'sprejudicetowardshimbegins.Besidesthisreason,therearetwootherincidentsstrengthensElizabeth'sprejudice.ThefirstisthatWickhamspeaksillofMr.Darcy,whichmakesElizabeththinkshimisunworthytomakingacquainceof.ThesecondisthatElizabethregardsDarcyisthepersonwhoseparateshersisterJaneandMr.Bingley.Butwiththeplotsdeveloping,Darcyhaschangedhimselfandbecomenolongerpride,healsohelpsJaneandBingley'sreunion.AllthesefactorchangeElizabeth'sattitudetowardsDarcy.Eventually,ElizabethandDarcybecomeacoupleandleadahappylifefromthenon.Afterreadingthisnovel,Irealizetheauthor—JaneAusten’sattitudesandviewstowardsloveandmarriage:isunpracticaltogetmarriedjustforproperty,wealthandsocialstatuswhilewoulditbewithoutcaringabouttheseelements.Marriageshouldbebasedonarealloveanditisnotagame!Youcannotjustenjoyitwithoutprudentconsiderations.ThereisagapwhichiscalledprideandprejudicebetweenElizabethandDarcy,fortheypossessdifferentsocietystatusandamountofproperty.ButtheendingwhichtheauthorarrangesthatElizabethandDarcybreakalltheobstaclesandbecomealovecouplesuggeststhattruedoexistnomatterhowdifferentthebackground,thestatusis.AndIthinkthisbookwillarousepeople’sawarenessoftheimportanceoftrueloveinamarriage.
