2007IEEE/WIC/ACMInternationalConferenceonIntelligentAgentTechnalogyIntroducingCommodityFlowtoanAgent-BasedModelE-commerceSystemTomaszSerzyskoDepartmentofMathematicsandInformationScience,WarsawUniversityofTechnology,PolandMariaGanzha,MaciejGawinecki,PawelKobzdej,MarcinPaprzyckiSystemResearchInstitute,PolishAcademyofSciences,PolandCostinBadicaDepartmentofComputerScience,UniversityofCraiova,RomaniaAbstractInourmodelagent-basede-commercesystem[2]wehaveassumedthatacertainnumberofitemsofagivenproductisavailableforsale.Inthisnoteweintroduceamodellogisticssubsystemanddiscusshowitwillbeintegratedwiththesystem.Keywords:e-commerce;logisticssystem;agent1.IntroductionCurrently,wearedevelopingandimplementingamodelagent-basede-commercesystem(see[2]andreferencescollectedthere).Inthissystemmultiplebuyeragentsattemptatmakingpurchasebyparticipatinginpricenegotiationsine-storesandselectingthebestoffer,whilee-storesattemptatmaximizingprofitresultingfromproductsales.Thusfarourattentionwasfocusedonbuyer-sellerinteractions.Byassumingthatproductsareinthewarehousewehaveomittedthequestionwheredotheycomefrom.Theaimofthisworkistodescribehowoursystemcanbeextendedtoincludeproductrestockingprocesses.Beforeproceedingletusmakeafewobservations.First,theproposedlogisticssubsystemisnot“standalone”(e.g.similartothatconsideredin[3,1,6]).Instead,ithasbeencreatedwithinthecontextofoure-commercesystem,whichhasdirectly济南大学毕业设计外文资料翻译-1-influenceditsdesign.Second,whilesomewhatsimilar,processesinvolvedine-storerestockingawarehousedifferfromclientmakingapurchaseinane-store(e.g.inproductdemandprediction,interactionswithwholesalers,methodsofpricenegotiationsthatinvolvemore“conditions,”offerselectioncriteria,etc.)Thereforewehavecreatedaseparatelogisticssubsystem(insteadofreusingalreadymodeledfunctions;e.g.pricenegotiations).Third,thisnoteisdevotedtotheagentstructureandagentinteractionsand,duetothespacelimitations,weomitimportanttopicslike:forecastsderivation,offerevaluationetc.However,thesefunctionscanbeencapsulatedintomodulesthatcanbecomeapartofanappropriateagent.Thereforereadersshouldenvisionthat,forinstance,whenwewritethat“receivedoffersareevaluated,”thentheirfavoritemethodofofferevaluationhasbeenutilized.Toproceed,first,webrieflydescribeoure-commercesystem.Wefollowwithassumptionsthatunderlinethelogisticssubsystemanddescriptionofnewagentsthatwereintroduced.Finally,wepresentthesequencediagramofrestockinganduseittodiscussindetailhowthisprocesswilltakeplaceinoursystem.2.SystemDescriptionOursystemisadistributedmarketplaceinwhichsoftwareagentsperforme-commercefunctions(see[2]fordetails,theUseCasediagraminparticular).User-ClientisrepresentedbytheClientAgent(CA).TheCAisautonomousandwhenapurchaseorderiscommunicatedbytheUser-Client,itworksuntileitheritiscompleted,orpurchaseisabandoned.TheCAcommunicateswiththeClientInformationCenter(CIC),whichfacilitatesinformationwhiche-storessellwhichproducts(yellow-pagematchmaking).Foreachstorethatsellstherequestedproduct,theCAdelegatesaBuyerAgent(BA)toparticipateinpricenegotiationsandifsuccessful,possiblyattemptatmakingapur-chase(successfulpricenegotiationsresultinaproductreservationforaspecifictime;afterwhichproductsthathavenotbeenpurchasedareavailableforsaleagain).SincemultipleBAsrepresentingthesameCAcanwinpricenegotiationstheCAmakesthedecisionifeitherofavailableoffersisgoodenoughtomakeapurchase.BuyerAgentscanparticipateinnegotiationsonlyiftheGatekeeperAgent(GA)admitsthem(iftheyaretrusted;e.g.BAsthatwinpricenegotiationsbutdonotmakeapurchasemaybebarredfromsubsequentnegotiations).TheGArepresentsagivene-storeandiscreatedbytheShopAgent(SA).TheSAisthecentralmanagerandfacilitatingthesellingprocessitutilizestheGA,andasetofSellerAgents(SeA)that济南大学毕业设计外文资料翻译-2-negotiatepricewithincomingBAs,aswellasaWarehouseAgent(WA)thatisresponsibleforinventoryandreservationmanagement.Thusfar,theWAwasresponsibleformanagingproductreservationsandtheinventory.Specifically,(1)beforeanewpricenegotiationtheWA“reserved”agivenproduct—sothatifnegotiationendedsuccessfullytherewasanitemthatcouldbesold;(2)whenareservationendedinpurchase,itadjustedproductcounters;and(3)whenareservationexpireditalsoadjustedproductscounters.However,theWAwasalwaysenvisionedasthe“gateway”betweenthestoreandsuppliers,whichisoneofthefociofthisnote.3.AssumptionsbehindthelogisticssystemLetusnowspecifyassumptionsthatunderlinedesignofthelogisticssubsystem:1.Nowadays,exceptoflargeststore-chains(e.g.TESCO,WalMart),companiesoutsourcetransportationactivities(considerednon-corebusinessactivities)tospecialists(e.g.UPS,Mayflower).However,weassumeherethatsuppliersarestillresponsibleforfacilitatingtransportation.Therefore,weomittransportationrelatedprocessesandfocusonlyininteractionsbetweene-storesandsuppliers2.Asaresultof(1),transportationcostsareassumedtobepaidbythesupplierandincludeddirectlyinproductprice(e.g.discountondeliverycosts,willmanifestitselfinthetotalprice).3.Whileintheoriginalsystemauction-basedpricenegotiationswereused,hereweoptedforthesimplicityoftheFIPAContractNetProtocol[4].There
