TheBriefDescriptionandCommentonTitanicTitanicseemsaquitesimplestory.Aship,avoyage,amanandawoman,butthestoryissomeaningfulandromanticthattouchesaudiences’heartdeeplyandinspirestheimpressionoflove.Thereweremanykindsofemotionthisfilmwantedtopresent,suchastheloveoffamilies,thefriendshipandeventhelovebetweenstrangers.ButwhatimpressedmedeeplywasthelovebetweenRoseandJack.OnApril10,1912,knownasthe“Industrialhistoryoftheworldmiracle”oftheluxuryliner,TitanicbeganitsmaidenvoyagefromEnglandtoNewYork.AwealthygirlRosewithhermotherandherfiancéCarltraveledasthefirstclasspassenger.Atthesametime,thecharmingbutpooryoungmanJackwonaninferiorclassticketinagamblingatthedock.Onboard,JackwasfascinatedbyRosethefirsttimehesawher.Andcoincidently,JackrescuedRose,agirlwhowastrappedbytheeconomicmarriageandtiredofdeceptivesocialactivities,whensheintendedtothrowherselfintothesea.Astheycommunicatedfurther,theysoonfellinlovewitheachother.JacktookRosetotheinferiorclassball,paintedtheportraitforher,andevendreamtaboutfuturewithher.Thetwopeople’sfeelingwarmedupgradually.OnthecalmSundayeveningofApril14,1912,theTitanicwashitbytheicebergandtheneversinkTitanicfacedthesunkenfate,thelovebetweenthisyoungcouplewouldalsobetestedbylifeanddeath.RosegaveupthechancetogetonthelifeboatforstayingwithJack.JackinthewatervoicedtrembledwithcoldbutstillcontinuedtoencourageRosetonevergiveupthehopeofsurvival.Attheendofthestory,asweallknown,Jackdiedunfortunately,butRosewasrescuedbythepeoplewhoreturnedtolookforsurvivals.AlthoughRosesurvived,sheknewshehadlostalltheworld,becauseherbelovedonewouldnevercomeback.ShepromisedJacktoliveahappylife,notonlyforherselfbutalsoforJack.RewatchingTitanicintheclass,IfoundIenjoyeditasmuchasIdidwhenIfirstsawitaroundfiveyearsago.Iwassurprisedthatthismoviehadlostnoneofitspoweroverthesefiveyears.AndIdon’twanttodenythatIcriedagaininallthesameplaces.SomeprofessionalfilmcriticsconsideredthatthesinkingoftheTitanicimpliesthecollapseoftheCapitalismintheendofthe19thcentury.However,IwouldliketosaythedirectormayhadnotonlyindicatedthedownfalloftheCapitalism,butalsoshowedmanyaspectsofhumannature,nomattergoodkindsorbadkinds,suchaslove,faith,bravery,hope,andhypocrisy,mammonism,vanity,selfishness,andsoon.AfterappreciationofTitanic,Ihadmyownopinionsaboutthetwocontraryaspectsofhumannaturepresentedinthismoviethroughsomedetails.ItiswellknownthatthelovebetweenJackandRoseistheeternalthemeofthisfilm.Theirlovewassopureandpowerful,directlyintothesoftestdeepsoulofpeople.Suchabeautifullove,infrontofthedisaster,neversubmittedtothedestructionandalwayskeptfaithinthevowthat"Youjump,Ijump".Finally,thedisasteronlybecamethefootnoteofthisduteouslove.Liketheepiphyllumstrytobloomforalongertime,finallyhavetoletthewitherrecorditsoncebrilliancy.Althoughitisaromanticlovestorywithoutahappyending,itstillspreadswarmthamongeachpersonwhohasfaithinlove.Despitethelove,manyotherbrilliantaspectsofhumannatureweredescribedinthismovie.Infrontofthecrisis,truegentlemenstillabidedbytheprincipleof“childrenfirst,ladiesfirst”untilthelastsecondoflife.Infrontofthechoiceoflifeordeath,therewerenobusinessmen,noscholars,noofficials,onlychildren,womenandmen.AndIalsocouldn’tforgetthebandwhichkeptplayingthemusicinsteadofescapingwiththeirownlifeeventheshipwassinking.Theirbraveandcalmattitudetowardsdeathtouchedmedeeply.Inaword,crisiswillnotdisappearbecausewefearorcomplain.Thegreatnessofhumannatureliesonaltruismanddedication.Crisis,thislitmustest,absolutelycanreflecthumanity’sbrightestlight.But,crisiscanalsorevealsomegloomyaspectsofhumannature.Accordingtothemovie’sbackground,economyandtechnologydevelopedreallyfastinthatperiod.Peoplethusbecameveryconfidentonhumanintellectualcapabilities.Theybelievedtheirpowerofconqueringthenatureisinapproachable.However,thingsdonotalwaysfollowthewaypeoplewishtobe.ThesinkingoftheTitanicsoundedthealarmthatself-conceitmayledtoadisaster.Anothernegativesocialmoodofthattimeexposedbythefilmwasvanity.IwasreallyshockedthatRose’smotherwantedtomarryherdaughtertoKarljustbecausehewasextremelyrich,whileshedidn’tcarewhetherRoselovedhimornot.Inaword,TitanicisnotsimplyanaffectionalstorybetweenJackandRose.Itshowsmorethanlove.Andalthoughlanguageisthemostexquisitetool,itcannotexactlydescribetheshockthatTitanicbroughttome.
