《********学院网站》英译的实践报告AReportontheC-ETranslationoftheWebsiteofCollegeof******CONTENTS1.IntroductionWiththeincreasedinternatinalacademicexchangeandreseachcommunicationbetweenuniversitieshomeandbroad,itisindispensibleforuniversitiestobeequippedwithEnglishwebsites,publicityalbumsandvideoclips.Englishwebsite,withitsdiversificationofforms,massiveamountsofinformationandeasyaccsess,playsanimportantroleinintenationalexchangeandcommunication.Thisreportisbasedontheprojectofwebsitetranslationfor*******.Theauthorofthisreportwasfortunatetoparticipateinthetranslationprojectasatranslator.Throughadetailedanaysisoftheprojectprocedureandcasesstudiesofthetranslation,thereportwillfocusonthetwoaspectsofissues.Firstly,howtogetanaccurateandappropriatetranslationbyadoptingSkopostheorieasthetanslationtheory.Secondly,howtouseparalleltextstosolvetheproblemsrelatetoterminology,languagestyle,figureofspeechandculturalfactors.2.ProjectDescriptionThisprojectoftranslationwasauthorizedbyCollegeofTechnologyandEngineering,andundertakenbythefacultyofEnglishasateachingprogram.Theauthorofthisreport,togetherwithotherthreeteammembersacceptedtheprojectinSeptember,2014.ThecollegesuppliedthemanuscriptsoftheChinesewebsiteandappointedateacherinthePublicityDepartmentforconsultingincaseofmeetingproblemsrelatetoChineseversionduringtheprocessoftranslation.Afteradiscussionin-depthwiththePublicityDepartment,theteamgotaclearanddefiniteorientationonwhatandwhatwillnotbetranslated.Thetaskwouldbecomposedof2phases.Thefirstphaseincludesfivemainparts----AbouttheCollege,Faculties,DepartmentsandMajors,InternationalExchangeandLatestNews(newsfromJanuarytoAugust,2014).Thesecondphasemainlyincludestheupdateoftheinformationandnewsitems.Sofar,thefirstphaseoftheprojecthasbeencarryingoutandwillbecompletedbyNovember,2014.Theauthorofthispaperisinchargeoftranslating“AbouttheCollege,Faculties,DepartmentsandMajors,InternationalExchange”asherassignedtask,whichcoversabout11,330Chinesewords.3.LiteraryFeaturesAnalysisAgoodknowledgeofliteraryfeaturesofcollegewebsiteplaysadominantroleinachievingthegoalofgettingagoodtranslation.Accordingtotheanalysisofthetextsfunctions,languagestyle,3.1TextFunctions“Textfunctionsaredefinedaseffectsgivenbythetextinspecificcommunicativecontext”(FanYong).ThefirstandmostimportantobviousfunctionofcollegeEnglishWebsiteistoprovidethereadersnecessaryinformation,suchasthehistory,thestaffandfaculties,thedisciplinesandmajors,collegefacilitiesandinternationalcooperationandexchange.Besides,theEnglishWebsitealsohasthefunctionsofappealingandaspiringmorestudentstoenrollbypublicityandpromotingitsownimage.Toconclude,theEnglishwebsiteisbuilttoprovidenecessaryinformationforthetargetreaders,thesourcetextsshouldbetranslatedandeditedtomainlyfulfilltheinformativefunction.3.2LanguageStyleLexically,thesourcetextisveryConciseandrichininformationwithalotofhighlycondensed,peculiarvocabulary,suchas“多学科、教学型、应用性、有特色”,,andmanyterminologiesrelatetodisciplines,organizations.Syntactically,scatteredshortsentences,parallelismsentencesandnonsubjectsentencesarecommonandtypicalsentencepatternanduniquelanguagephenomenoninthesourcetexts.Undoubtedly,thesefeaturesofthesourcetextsmakeitmoredifficulttogetanaccuratetranslation.4.TranslationPreparationSinceboththecollegeandthetranslationteamattachedgreatimportancetotheprogram,theProgramProposalmadecleartheresponsibilitiesanddutiesofbothparties,whichincludethejobrequirements,expectationstotheprojectteamandthecontinuingsupportingfromthecollege.Similartoanytranslationproject,thetranslatingofwebsitealsocontainsthreemainparts—Pre-translating,While-translatingandPost-translating.Inordertohaveasmoothprocedure,itisindispensablefortheteamtodoplentyofpreparationsinPre-translationpart.Thepreparationsmainlyfocusonmakingaplanaboutthewholeproject,whichincludesthestaffing,thetranslationprocedureaswellasanalysisofthewebsitemanuscriptsandthestrategiesappliedinthisproject.4.1TranslationPlanningAgeneralplanoftheprojectstaffing,procedurewillbemadeinthispart.AsillustratedinFigure1,theprojectteamwascomposedoffourmembers.Theauthorworksastranslatorandtakesthewholechargeoftheproject.TheconsultantisresponsibleforanyproblemrelatestotheChinesemanuscript.AnydeletionoradditiontotheEnglishtranslationshouldbefullydiscussedwithandpermittedbytheconsultant.TheProofreaderisaprofessionaltranslatorwhoisresponsibleforproofreadingofthedraftsandsupervisionofthewholeproject.Figure1StaffingStaffTasksandResponsibilitiesTranslatorNo.1(Theauthor)Projectmanagement,Pre-translatinganalysis,tanslatingtheassisgnedparts,CompleletionReportTranslatorNo.2Pre-translatinganalysis,tanslatingtheassisgnedpartsConsultantConsulting,TypesettinganduploadingthefinaldraftProofreaderProofreadingandSupervisionAsillustratedinFigure2,theprojectwilllastfor2months.Duringtheprocess,thewholeteamwillholdformalteammeetingatleasttwice,onebeforetheprojectfordiscussing,oneafterforconclusion.Theallocationoftasks,responsibiltiesandthestrategiesaplliedtothetranslationwouldalsobefullydiscussedduringthemeeting.Afterthemeeting,thetanslat
