ASurveyofArchitectProfessionalsAttitudesTowardArchitectDrawingAstudentfromtheAcademicEnglishclassof2014AbstractTherapiddevelopmentofthecomputerdesignforconstructiontechniquehasbroughttherevelutionarychange.Unfortunately,thetraditionalArchitectDrawingtechniqueshavegraduallyreplaced.ArchitectProfessionals’attitudetowardsArchitectDrawingisimportantbuildingindustriesdevelopment.ThepaperattemptstofindwhichconfinesArchitectProfessionalstotakeArchitectDrawingabilityseriouslyandwhethertheyarewillingtoregainArchitectdrawingabilityornot.Asurveywasconductedinatotalof200personwithdifferentbuildingworkingexperiencestoChangShaUniversityofScienceandTechnology.TheresultshowsthatthereisagreatdifferencebetweentheattidutestowardArchitectDrawingofArchitectProfessionalswithdifferentworkingexperiences.ItalsosuggestthattheArchitectDrawingdepressionisassociatedwithschooleducationandrequirementofbuildingindustrieswhicharetwofactorsaffectingArchitectProfessionalsattitude.Notonlythat,buttimeisalsoafactorwhichinfluencesArchitectProfessionals’willingnesstopracticeArchitectDrawing.Keywords:ArchitectProfessionals,ArchitectDrawing,attitude1.IntroductionAlthoughmanyArchitectProfessionalsmayknowArchitectdrawingisimportantfortheirdesign,scarcelyArchitectProfessionalsarewillingtospendtimepracticingit.TherehavebeenmanystudiesoncurrentsituationofArchitectDrawing.Peng(2006)showedthatyounggeneration,especiallyyoungstudentsofarchitect,excessivelydependoncomputerdesign,topursuehighefficiency.AndthentheirArchitectdrawingfallsintodisuse.AstudyinNanHuaUniversitybychen(2009)showedthatArchitectstudentsapproveArchitectDrawingonly30%ofthemandveryfewpeopleputitintopractice.DesignerandArchitectureUniversitystartstowithdrawfromtraditionalArchitectdrawing(Li,2012).AstudyinArchitectureUniversitybyShi(2013)indicatedthatChineseArchitectDrawinglessonswereignored.TheArchitectProfessionalsattitudestowardArchitectDrawingmayinfluencethedevelopmentofArchitectDrawingandbuildingindustriesdevelopment.Therefore,havingabetterunderstandingofArchitectDrawingtoArchitectProfessionalsisimportant.ButfewstudiesdeliberatewhyArchitectstudentsaretiredofArchitectDrawing.AccordingtoChen(2009)demandofHandDrawingsharplydeclinedinsociety.LearningArchitectDrawing’senthusiasmreducedtheLowestpoint.Hand-paintedreallyintothepreclicament?IfaretherepeoplewillingtospendtimelearningArchitectDrawing?IstherebetteradvantagebetweendesignbycomputerandArchitectDrawing?ThestudyreportedhereattemptedtoexplorethisissueandanswersomeofthesequestionsbyconductingasurveyinUniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChangSha.Thepaperisorganizedasfollows:firstthemethodologyisdescribde,especiallythecontentofthequestionnaire:thentheresultsobtainedandtheirsignificanceanddiscussed:finally,theconclusionisdrawn.2.MethodologyAsurveywasconductedinOctober,2014inChangShaUniversityofScienceandTechnologywiththehelpofmyfriendsandteachers.QuestionnaireswereadministeredtoArchitectProfessionalsofdifferentworkingexperience.SampleTheoverallsample(N=200),randomlychosenandconsistingofanalmostequalnumberoffemaleandmaleArchitectProfessionals,completedthequestionnaires.Thentherespondentsweredividedintotwogroupsasworkingexperience.GroupAconsistedoftheArchitectstudentswhonearlyhavenotworkingexperiencewhileGroupBaretheteachersmosthavingabundantlyworkingexperience.GroupA(N=160)MaleFemaleHavingworkingexperienceHavingnotworkingexperience45%(72)55%(88)44%(70)56%(90)GroupB(N=40)MaleFemaleHavingworkingexperienceHavingnotworkingexperience55%(22)45%(18)25%(10)75%(30)QuestionnaireThereareatotalof7questionintheQuestionnaire,whichareclassifiedintothreepartsaccordingtotheircontent.1)InordertoexplorethecorrelationbetweentheworkingexperienceofArchitectandattitudetowardArchitectDrawing,twoquestion(Q1andQ2)wereusedtotestresponents’educationofArchitectDrawinginschool.Ifthe“tureorfalse”questionitemwasansweredcorrectly,therespondentwouldbegivenonepoint.Otherwisetherespondentwouldbegivennopoint.Q3anwasusedtoevaluateArchitectProfessionalslikingofArchitectDrawing.whicharefoundtobecrucialforthedevelopmentofArchitectDrawing.Q4isaimedtoexplorewhetherArchitectDrawingmayhaseffectonArchitect’sability.Thesetwoquestionswereratedonatwo-pointscalerangingfrom1(agree)and2(disagree).2)Q5toQ6wereusedtoascertainwhetherArchitectProfessionalsarewillingtopracticingArchitectDrawingornot,thoughthecomputerdesignhaswidlyusedincontemporary.Participantwereaskedtochoosetwokindsofmethodtodrawingbuilding,oneishand-paintedandtheotherisdesignedbycomputer.InQ6,ifyouuseyourdesignsketchwithhand-painted,youcanearnmoremoneythaninpeacetime,comparedwithdesignedbycomputer.3)ThelastquestiongaugedtheArchitectProfessionals‘willingnesstopracticeArchitectDrawing.IfirstaskedwhethertheywouldbewillingtopracticeArchitectDrawingifyoumayspend4hourstocompleteit.Iftheanswerwasno,wewouldproceedwiththequestionastowhethertheywouldbewillingtopracticeArchitectDrawingifyoumayspend2hourstocompleteit.Iftherespondentsfurtherrespondedwithno,wewouldaskatwhattimedurationtheywouldaccepttopracticeArchitectDrawing.Table1TotalresultsT
