20114548孙鑫11信管2班1EffectsofnonverbalcommunicationininterculturalcommunicationNowtheworldexchangesbetweencountriesarebecomingmoreandmorefrequent,cooperativerelationsbetweencountriesaremoreandmorewidelyanddeeply.Inthecross-culturalcommunication,nonverbalcommunicationplaysahugerole.Butbecauseoftheculturaldifferencesbetweeneachcountryandnation,thenon-verbalcommunicationaregivendifferentmeaningsindifferentcultures,letpeopleencounteredgreatdifficultiesintheprocessofcommunication.Non-verbalcommunicationincludes:bodylanguage,paralanguage,objectlanguage,environmentallanguage.Forexample:Whenpeoplewelcomesomeonewillsmileandheldouthishand,expresseddissatisfactionwiththeusuallyfrowned,shakinghishead,whenyouwanttotelleachothertowantthethingonthetablewillpointtothetable.Butsometimesthenonverbalmessageisthenegationofthelanguagebehavior.Forexample:Amanisfrightenedbutpretendtobeeasilysaynothing,nothing,butwastrembling,voicetrembling.Inthenon-languagecommunicationshouldpayattentiontothefollowing:first,thesamebehaviorrepresentedindifferentcultureshavedifferentmeanings.Forexample:Whenpeopleseeachildlikestopatachild'sheadwiththehandsgently.IntheChineseview，Itmeancloseandcaresstochildren,andtheWesternwomendonotthinkso,anditmakesthemfeeluncomfortable,becauseintheirownculture,thisbehaviorisrude,isthecauseoftheothergreatAntiSenseanddisgust.Second,thesamemeaningindifferentculture,differentbehavior.Forexample:don'tknow,embarrassed,notinfavorofmeaning,Chineselikeheadorhand,whileWesternersloveshrug.Third:someactionischaracteristicofagivenculture,existonlyinaculture.Nonverbalcommunicationinthefield,asinthelanguagecommunication,cultureplaysanimportantroleinthedomination,thesamegesturemayhavetotallytwokindsofmeaningindifferentculture.Thetwoareinseparable,leftthenon-verbal20114548孙鑫11信管2班2communicationcultureismeaningless,becauseiftheisolatedunderstandingofnon-verbalcommunicationandnotcombinedwiththeculturalunderstanding,thenitisnotpossibletogoodcommunication,conflictandevenproducetheculturaldifferences,hindercross-culturalcommunication.Suchconflictthanusingthewrongcommittedasyntaxerrorismuchmoreserious.Therefore,nonverbalcommunicationissuccessfulornot,toagreatextent,isdecidedbycertainculturalenvironment.Onlyfortheculturaldifferencesinnonverbalcommunicationhasamoreprofoundunderstanding,inordertoensurethesuccessofcommunication.Cultureandthevastmajorityofnonverbalcommunicationareallbehandeddownfromagetoageandlearned,isalonghistoryandculturalheritagefromthehabitsofaparticularcommunity.Thetwoareinseparable,manynonverbalbehavioristhefruitofculturalacquisition.Nonverbalcommunicationplaysahugeroleincross-culturalcommunication,andcultureofnonverbalcommunicationhasplayadecisiverolerole.Therefore,inordertorealizethenonverbalcommunicationandcross-culturalcommunicationsuccessfully,avoidtheoccurrenceofconflict,toenhancetheculturalunderstandingisthekey,wecanobservethefollowingprinciples:first,understandthenonverbalbehaviorinthisculture,thencanunderstandnonverbalbehaviorinothercultures.Second,asfaraspossible,moreaccumulationofcross-culturalnon-verbalbehaviorknowledge.Third,accordingtotheirownactualsituation,activelyunderstandothernationalthecultureandnonverbalcommunication.
