TheMoonandSixpenceandIItissaidthatTheMoonandSixpencewasafairytalewrittenforadults.However,Ihadn’trealizedthatitwasthetimeformetoreadthisbookuntillastsemester.Iusedtogetextremlyfrustratedafterenteringcollege.Asanengineeringstudent,Ievenfeltmoretiredthanhighschool.ThereweresomuchknowledgeIwassupposedtoabsorbthatIdidn’thaveasecondtobuildmyowninterests.FinallyIperceivedthatIshouldstopandhaveabreak.ThenIboughtthisbookbychance.TheheroofthisnovelcalledStrickland.Heworkedasabrokerinastockexchangeandhadahappyfamilyatthebeginning.Yethegaveupallofthoseenviableissuesincludinghischildren.Everyonethoughthemustbecrazy.Hiswifeandrelativessuspectedhimoflovingsomeoneelse.Ultimatelythetruthexceededeverybody’sexpectations.Stricklandwasjustmadeadecisionthathewouldescapefromhisoldlifeandbecomeanartist.Theonlyproblemwasthathedidn’tknowhowtodraw.Toeveryone’ssurprise,hesucceededatlast.AfterI’vefinishedthisbook,IbelievethatI’verecognizedsomethingunique,somethingIcan’tspeakout.Icanonlysaythatweallhavetheabilitytochangeourlives,ifyou’renotcontentwithyourcurrentlife,don’tjustcrossyourarmsandcomplainaboutit.Noonebutyouaretakingcontrolofyourlife.
