I.J.EducationandManagementEngineering2012,4,45-53PublishedOnlineApril2012inMECS()DOI:10.5815/ijeme.2012.04.08Availableonlineat:operationsupportsystem(OSS),distributedreport,desktopservice,applicationservice,database,commonobjectrequestingbrokerarchitecture(CORBA)©2012PublishedbyMECSPublisher.Selectionand/orpeerreviewunderresponsibilityoftheInternationalConferenceonE-BusinessSystemandEducationTechnology1.IntroductionOSS(OperationSupportSystem)isreferredtothetelecomoperators’integratedsupportsystemwhichsharesthetelecomresources.Itconsistsofnetworkmanagement,systemmanagement,billing,accountsandcustomerservice.Thesystemsareintegratedorganicallybyaunifiedinformationbus.Eachsubsystemdistributesbusinessreports,accountsreports,settlementreports,auditreports,customerservicereportsandthereportswhichareneededbySOXinternalaudit,etc.Duetotheindependenceofeachsystem,thereportsareseparatedphysicallyandlogicallysothatthereportsofthesametypecan’tbeshowncentrallyinonlyonereport.Atpresent,ineachoperator’sOSSsystem,reportsarejustregardedasapartoftheproductionsystem.Theconsumptionofthehostperformancewhenthereportingsystemisprocessingwillaffectthestabilityoftheproductionsystem.Especiallywhenthereportsaregeneratedatthebeginningofthemonththatistheexpenditurepresentationdateoftheoperator,thedispositionofthereportsisintensive.Theimpactsonthewholesystemishuge,whichwillmakethewholesystemrunningslowlyduringthisperiod.Withthehigherandhigherqualitieswhicharerequiredbytheoperatorsduetolaunchingabundantservicesallthetime[1],thereis*Correspondingauthor.E-mailaddress:achunzhiwang@126.com;bwisdomron@163.com;cruoxiwang@163.com46StudyontheApplicationoftheDistributedReportPlatformBasedontheOSSSystemanurgentneedofthedistributedreportplatformwhichisbasedontheOSSsystemasanimportantapplicationsupport.Thisreportmanagementsystemwhichisindependentoftheproductionsystemmergesallthesubsystems’reportingfunctions.Thissystemcanmanageandmaintainthereportscentrallyanddivergethegenerationofthereportsintheproductionsystembydataextraction,managementofreportgenerating,maintenancemanagement,versionmanagement,auditmanagement,presentationmanagement,outputmanagementandaseriesoffunctionmodules.ThispaperaimsatmakingastudyoftheapplicationofthedistributedreportplatformwhichisbasedontheOSSsystem,designingthethree-tierarchitectureofthewholesystemofthedistributedreportplatform,analyzingthemodulesofthewholeplatformsystem,elaboratingthebusinessprocessandthecommunicationstyle,andaccomplishingthedispositionoftheapplicationplatform.2.Systemarchitecture2.1Three-tierarchitectureAtpresent,operatingsystemgenerallyusesC/Stwo-tiervisitingarchitecture.AsshowninFigure1.Fig1.C/Stwo-tierarchitectureInthistwo-tierarchitecturemode,everyclientcanvisittheR/W(read/write)databasedirectlythroughtheserver.Whentherearetoomanyclientsoperatingconcurrently,theseverwillbecrowdedandthewholesystemwillbecomeslower.Besides,ifaclientiscracked,thedatabasewillbeeasiertobedestroyed.Inviewoftheproblemswhichexistinthetwo-tierarchitecturemode,thedistributedreportplatformwhichisbasedontheOSSsystemwillusethree-tierarchitecture[2],asshowninFigure2.DBGUIClientGUIClientGUIClientApplicationServerN1R/WStudyontheApplicationoftheDistributedReportPlatformBasedontheOSSSystem47Fig2.Thethree-tierarchitectureInthistwo-tierarchitecturemode,everyclientcanvisittheR/W(read/write)databasedirectlythroughtheserver.Whentherearetoomanyclientsoperatingconcurrently,theseverwillbecrowdedandthewholesystemwillbecomeslower.Besides,ifaclientiscracked,thedatabasewillbeeasiertobedestroyed.Inviewoftheproblemswhichexistinthetwo-tierarchitecturemode,thedistributedreportplatformwhichisbasedontheOSSsystemwillusethree-tierarchitecture,asshowninFigure2.Inthisthree-tierarchitecturemode,eachclientwon’taccessthephysicaldatabasedirectlyinordertoavoidtherisksthatdatabasewillbedestroyedbecauseoftheclientbeingcracked.Whentherearetoomanyclientsoperatingconcurrently,theycanjustoperatethecachedatabase.Therebyitcanavoidtherisksofperformancedegradationofthewholesystemduetotheclientstorm.Atthesametime,itcanalsoenhancethesecurityofthesystemdata.SinceDSdispositioncansupportdifferentkindsofaccesses,thewholesystemcansatisfythescalabil
