Goodmorningeveryone,I’mverygladtohavethechancetointroduceoneofmyfavoriteplacestoyou.ComesinfrontofHangzhou,youcertainlyhadheardonhastheheaven,downhasSuzhouandHangzhouthisfamoussaying!ThefamousWestLakeislikeabrilliantpearlembeddedinthebeautifulandfertileshoresoftheEastChinaSeanearthemouthoftheHangzhouBay.Thelakecoversanareaof5.6squarekilometers.TheviewoftheWestLakeissimplyenchanting,whichoffersmanyattractionsfortouristsathomeandabroad.Ihopeallofyouwillappreciatethisfamousplace.First,I’dliketointroducethefamousTenScenestoyou.1.SpringDawnontheSuCauseway(苏堤春晓)Itisathintripoflandnearlythreekilometerscoveredwithpeachandweepingwillowtrees.Inspring,withthelakesidesparklinginthemorningdew,birdscheerfullychirpingamongswayingwillowbranches,thescentofpeachblossomswaftingthroughtheair,youwillaskwhetheryouareinthemidstofparadise.2.OriolesSingingintheWillows(柳浪闻莺)Animperialgardenbuiltinthesouthernsongdynasty.Nowtheonce-imperialgardenhasbeenturnedintoaparkopentopublic.Featuringgreenwillowsandsingingorioles,therearelawns,pavilions,andbridgesthatareveryimpressive,aswell.3.ViewingFishatFlowerPond(花港观鱼)Flowerspondparkoccupiesanareaoftwenty-onehectaresonapeninsulainthesouthwestcornerofthelake.Initsheartistheredfishpond,wherepeoplecanrelaxtothesightofbrightlycolorfulfishswimmingaroundandtothebriskmelodyofchirpybirdsong.Tostaywithnatureisahighlyenjoyableexperience.4.WineryYardandLotusPool/Breeze-ruffledlotusatQuyuangarden(曲苑风荷)ThistypicalwestlakescenehasearneditsfamesinceSongdynasty,whenthelakesideareawithanabundantgrowthoflotusoffitsshoreswasknownasCrookedCourtyard.,andwasalocationofabrewery.Peoplesaidthesmellofthelotusflowersandwineblendedbythecoollakebreezeswasintoxicating.Thereareplentyoflotusplantsstillbloomoffitsshores.Theystandgracefullyerectinthelake,asiftheyknowtheyhasvisitorscomingtoadmiretheirbeauty.5.EveningBellRingingattheNanpingHill(南屏晚钟)Nanpingmountainstrechesalongthesouthernbankofthelake.Atdusk,withthesunslowlydriftingintothelakeonthewest,ahugebellatJingxitemple,willringitsfarewelltothelastsunbeamofthedaywiththeprolongedbellsoundreverberatingacrossthelakethepeacefulandscaredairoffersyouaperfectoccasionformeditation.6.AutumnMoonovertheCalmLake(平湖秋月)AtthewesternendofBaiCausewayislocatedalakesideparkwhichhousesastonetabletbearingtheetchedcalligraphyofEmperorKangxioftheQingDynasty,whichreads:AutumnMoononCalmLake.Thelakeisaspecialplacetoappreciatethemoonandtheeffectofmoonlightontheland.Themoonseemsespeciallybrightoverthewaters.Thehillslookpurplishbathedinthemoonlight.ThebesttimefornighttimeviewingisonMid-AutumnDay.7.LeifengPagodainEveningGlow(雷峰夕照)Leifengpagodaisanotherrenownedscenicspotinhangzhou,Originallybuiltinthe10thcentury.LeifengpagodausedtostandinfrontofJingxitempleonnanpingmountain,thoughfailedtostandthetestoftime,thepagodacollapsedinearly1900s.In2002,leifengpagodawasreconstructed;thencomesbackthetypicalsunsetGlowoverleifengpagoda.8.ThreePoolsMirroringtheMoon(三潭印月)Thereareislandsinthelakeandthreearelakeontheislands.OnthesouthsideofthelargestofthethreemanmadeislandsintheOuterLake,therearethreehollowstonepagodasrisingfromthewater,eachwithfiveopenings.ThethreestonetowerswerefirstbuiltinYuanyou4thyear(1089)oftheSongDynasty,withthewonderfulsceneryofonemoonintheskyhavingthreereflectioninthelake,itisoneofthewonderfulscenesoftheWestLake.9.LingeringSnowontheBrokenBridge(断桥残雪)Itisthemostromanticsceneofthetenmat-see.ThestonearchedbrokenbridgeiswherethecharacterofafamousChinesefolktaleXuXianandabeautifulgirl,whoisactuallyawhitesnake,firstmetandfellinlovewitheachother.Afterasnowfall,whenthesnowonthemoreexposedsidehasmelted,withtheshadesideremainingwhite,itlooksasifalongwhitebelthasbeenrippedapartonthethusearningthename”meltingsnowonthebrokenbridge”.10.TwinPeaksPiercingtheClouds(双峰插云)Grazeattheskiesabovethewestlake,youwillberewardedwiththesightoftowlimestonemountainspastthenorthernedgeofthelakeonetothenortheastandonetothenorthwest,fivekilometersapart.Onadrizzlingdayspringorautumn,thetowpeakscomeandgoamongstdriftingrainclouds.Therearemanyotherscenestosee.Ifyouwalkaroundthelake,everywhereisabeautifulscens.TheWestLakeislikeashiningpearlinlaidonthevastlandofChina,withbeautifulscenery,amultitudeofhistoricalsites,brilliantculturalrelics,andaprofusionofnativeproducts.LegendhasitthattheWestLakewasaheavenlyjewelfallentoearth.PragmatistsinsistthatitisamerelagoononHangzhou'swesternfringe.Inanycase,WestLakeisbothagreattouristattractionandahighinspirationforartisticcreations.
