TheFeelingafterWatchingTheModernTimesName:Studentnumber:Class:（Thursday3:40pm~5:10pm）ModernTimesisoneofthemostfamousmoviessilentfilmsfilmedin1936.Asweallknow,thecapitalismhadtheGreatDepressionfrom1929to1933.Thismoviereflectsthesituationduringthattimevividlyinhumorway.Whenwewatchthemovie,notonlycanweenjoythewonderfulactingofCharlieChaplin,butalsoknowtheinfluencetheGreatDepressionbroughtabout.Atthebeginning,themovieshowsusthattheprotagonistChaplinworkedinafactorywheretheownerwassogreedythatevendriveworkerstocrazy.Afteraperiodoftime,Chaplinwassenttomentalhospitalbecauseoftheboringandintensejob.Fromthere,wecanknowthecapitalism'srelentlessandthehardlifeofworkersduringtheGreatDepression.AfterChaplinwasreleasedfromthementalhospital,hewascaughttotheprisoninnocentlythatmadethestorymoreinterestingandattractive.Intheprison,Chaplinhelpedthepolicecaughttherealcriminals.Andasaresult,hegotfreewithaletterofrecommendation.Buthepreferredtostayintheprison.Sohedidsomethingillegaltobesenttotheprison.Unexpectedly,hesavedagirlandfellinlovewithher.Inordertohaveahappyfamilywiththegirl,aseriesofstorystartedagain.ItwassodifficulttofindasuitablejobevenifChaplinhadtheletterofrecommendationthathewasfiredagainandagain.Lifeisdifficult.Actually,Ican'tunderstandthatwhythecapitalistwouldratherwastethefoodthantogiveittothepoor.Maybetherearesomerulesinthemarketeconomythatcan'tbreak.Chaplinandhislittlegirlfriendoncedreamedthewonderfulfuturebutthetruthwastheyhadsufferedfromthehungerandcoldwithoutmoney.Unluckily,afterbeingfiredChaplinwascaughttotheprisonagainbyaccident.Butthegoodnewswasthatthegirlfoundagoodjob.AndwhenChaplingotfree,thegirlhelpedhimgotajobasawaiterattherestaurant.ThegirldidwellbutChaplinalwaysmadeamessofthings.Ithoughttheywouldhaveahappylife,butthingsalwaysnothappenedasyouexcepted.WhentheownerpromisedtogiveChaplinasteadyjob,hewastoldthatthegirlwaswanted.SobothChaplinandthegirllosttheirjob.Finally,theyhadtolivewithoutjob,withoutmoney,withoutfood......ThegirlwasupsetbuttheChaplintoldhertheywouldgetalong.Asfarasiamconcerned,althoughtheyhadnothingandtheroadleadtothefuturewasnoteasy,theyhadeachother.That'senough.InthemoviewhatinterestsmemostisthesceneChaplingetsajobasanightwatchman.Ithinkmaybemostchildrendreamtohaveadepartmentstoresothattheycangeteverythingtheywanted.Itsowonderfulyoucanenjoyeverythinginthestore.Andtheplotofthispartissointeresting,especiallythenextmorningChaplinwasfoundedbyawomaninalotofcloth.ButwhatgivesmethedeepestimpressionistheplotthatChaplinwasinvolvedinthemachine,itseemsridiculousbutreflectstherealitythatpeoplearecloselyrelatedtothemachine.Ihaveseensomeevaluationaboutthemoviebefore,somepeoplethoughttheendingseemsgoodbutactuallyitmeanstheywon'thappyinthefutureinthattime.ButIdon'tagreewiththem,Ithinkweshouldlivewithhope.Itiswoefulthatifamanalwaysliveinapassiveattitude.Soinmyopinion,theendingiswonderful,becauseitbringspeoplehopeandhappiness.Allinall,Ithinkthismovieisprettygood.Itissodifficultforactorstoperformwithoutsayingaword.Let'simaginethatiftheHollywoodmoviesarebroadcastwithoutvoice,canwestillenjoythem.IhavetosayChaplinissuchagreatactorthatmakessomanyclassicalworksforus.Andthismoviereallyreflectssomethingneedsustoconsidercarefullythroughhumoracting.Finally,Ijustwanttosaythismovieisworthwatchingagain.
