Amancanbedestroyedbutnotdefeated-----commentof《Theoldmanandthesea》专业：测控技术与仪器姓名：学号：成绩：Thissemester,wesawthemovie—《Theoldmanandthesea》.ThemoviewhichwasadaptedfromthenovelwrittenbyHemingwaytellsusastoryaboutanoldmanfightagainstthenature.ThenovelnarratesanoldfishermannamedSantiagodidn’tcatchafishafter84daysonthesea.Finally,hemadeadecisionthatgoingfishingtotheunfamiliarseaarea.Luckily,hediscoveredahugemarlin.Afterfiercefighting,heconqueredthemarlindespitehewasexhausted.Drawntheshortstraw,thesmellofmarlin’sbloodattractedthesharks.Sharksraidedtheoldmanandbitthemeatofmarlin.Theoldmanresistedtheattackfromthesharksdesperately.However,whenhewentbacktheharbor,therewasonlythemarlin’sskeletonleft.Andthereweremanydiscussionsabouttheskeletonamongpeopleinharbor.Althoughtheoldmanfailedagainandagain,hewasneverdisappointed.Hiscalmshowedusamatchlessstrongheart.DespiteSantiagoisoldandmiserable,hewouldneverliketoquit.Hepersistedinstrugglingwiththedestiny.Sometimesourdestinycannotbedominatedbyus.Butwecanconfrontthefateoptimisticallyandacceptitcalmly.Amancanbedestroyedbutnotdefeated.Thoughourhumanbodycanbetormented,ourdeterminationcanneverbeencroached.Themarlinisasymbolofourdreams.Meanwhile,thesharksrepresentthesetbackwhichwecannotavoid.Theunpredictablesealookslikeourrealisticsocietywhereagreatmanypeoplepursuetheirdreamsunremittinglyandnevergiveup.Whenwepursueourdreamsandconquered,whetherthemarliniscompleteorincompleteisnothing,becauseoursignificanceoflifehasbeenreflectedintheprocessofchasingthemarlin.Ontheonehand,theoldmanisaloser,becausehismarlinwaseatenbysharksatlast.Hegotnothingintheend.Ontheotherhand,Santiagoisawinnerthathedidn’tcompromiseandsurrendertothesea,marlinandsharksevenifhehasusedallhisweaponsup.Theoldmanwasalonelytraveleronthedreamroad,butheisalsonotalone,becausehisstrongwillaccompanieswithhim.Nomatterwhatresulttheoldmangot,hisspiritisesteemedbyus,becausehebringsusthegreatconfidencethatabravemanhas.Ourlifeisfullofroughandmisfortune,onlyifwehaveaconfidentmindtomeetthechallengesbravelyandtenaciouslycanweberealwinners.Wearesupposedtobelievethefaiththatamanisnotborntobedefeated.Eventhoughwearefacedwiththeunconquerablenature,wecouldalsoobtainmoralvictory.Maybetheresultisfailure.Wecouldwitnesstheprocedurethatanordinarypersonbecomesanuprightman.Whatevertheadversityis,wehavetobeindomitableandnottocapitulate.Wearesupposedtobelievethatwecanbedestroyedbutnotdefeated.
