ChiefJusticeRoberts,PresidentCarter,PresidentClinton,PresidentBush,PresidentObama,fellowAmericans,andpeopleoftheworld:thankyou.We,thecitizensofAmerica,arenowjoinedinagreatnationalefforttorebuildourcountryandtorestoreitspromiseforallofourpeople.Together,wewilldeterminethecourseofAmericaandtheworldforyearstocome.Wewillfacechallenges.Wewillconfronthardships.Butwewillgetthejobdone.Everyfouryears,wegatheronthesestepstocarryouttheorderlyandpeacefultransferofpower,andwearegratefultoPresidentObamaandFirstLadyMichelleObamafortheirgraciousaidthroughoutthistransition.Theyhavebeenmagnificent.Today'sceremony,however,hasveryspecialmeaning.BecausetodaywearenotmerelytransferringpowerfromoneAdministrationtoanother,orfromonepartytoanother–butwearetransferringpowerfromWashington,D.C.andgivingitbacktoyou,theAmericanPeople.Fortoolong,asmallgroupinournation'sCapitalhasreapedtherewardsofgovernmentwhilethepeoplehavebornethecost.Washingtonflourished–butthepeopledidnotshareinitswealth.Politiciansprospered–butthejobsleft,andthefactoriesclosed.Theestablishmentprotecteditself,butnotthecitizensofourcountry.Theirvictorieshavenotbeenyourvictories;theirtriumphshavenotbeenyourtriumphs;andwhiletheycelebratedinournation'sCapital,therewaslittletocelebrateforstrugglingfamiliesallacrossourland.Thatallchanges–startingrighthere,andrightnow,becausethismomentisyourmoment:itbelongstoyou.ItbelongstoeveryonegatheredheretodayandeveryonewatchingallacrossAmerica.Thisisyourday.Thisisyourcelebration.Andthis,theUnitedStatesofAmerica,isyourcountry.Whattrulymattersisnotwhichpartycontrolsourgovernment,butwhetherourgovernmentiscontrolledbythepeople.January20th2017,willberememberedasthedaythepeoplebecametherulersofthisnationagain.Theforgottenmenandwomenofourcountrywillbeforgottennolonger.Everyoneislisteningtoyounow.Youcamebythetensofmillionstobecomepartofahistoricmovementthelikesofwhichtheworldhasneverseenbefore.Atthecenterofthismovementisacrucialconviction:thatanationexiststoserveitscitizens.Americanswantgreatschoolsfortheirchildren,safeneighborhoodsfortheirfamilies,andgoodjobsforthemselves.Thesearethejustandreasonabledemandsofarighteouspublic.Butfortoomanyofourcitizens,adifferentrealityexists:Mothersandchildrentrappedinpovertyinourinnercities;rusted-outfactoriesscatteredliketombstonesacrossthelandscapeofournation;aneducationsystem,flushwithcash,butwhichleavesouryoungandbeautifulstudentsdeprivedofknowledge;andthecrimeandgangsanddrugsthathavestolentoomanylivesandrobbedourcountryofsomuchunrealizedpotential.ThisAmericancarnagestopsrighthereandstopsrightnow.Weareonenation–andtheirpainisourpain.Theirdreamsareourdreams;andtheirsuccesswillbeoursuccess.Weshareoneheart,onehome,andonegloriousdestiny.TheoathofofficeItaketodayisanoathofallegiancetoallAmericans.Formanydecades,we'veenrichedforeignindustryattheexpenseofAmericanindustry;Subsidizedthearmiesofothercountrieswhileallowingfortheverysaddepletionofourmilitary;We'vedefendedothernation'sborderswhilerefusingtodefendourown;AndspenttrillionsofdollarsoverseaswhileAmerica'sinfrastructurehasfallenintodisrepairanddecay.We'vemadeothercountriesrichwhilethewealth,strength,andconfidenceofourcountryhasdisappearedoverthehorizon.Onebyone,thefactoriesshutteredandleftourshores,withnotevenathoughtaboutthemillionsuponmillionsofAmericanworkersleftbehind.Thewealthofourmiddleclasshasbeenrippedfromtheirhomesandthenredistributedacrosstheentireworld.Butthatisthepast.Andnowwearelookingonlytothefuture.Weassembledheretodayareissuinganewdecreetobeheardineverycity,ineveryforeigncapital,andineveryhallofpower.Fromthisdayforward,anewvisionwillgovernourland.Fromthismomenton,it'sgoingtobeAmericaFirst.Everydecisionontrade,ontaxes,onimmigration,onforeignaffairs,willbemadetobenefitAmericanworkersandAmericanfamilies.Wemustprotectourbordersfromtheravagesofothercountriesmakingourproducts,stealingourcompanies,anddestroyingourjobs.Protectionwillleadtogreatprosperityandstrength.Iwillfightforyouwitheverybreathinmybody–andIwillnever,everletyoudown.Americawillstartwinningagain,winninglikeneverbefore.Wewillbringbackourjobs.Wewillbringbackourborders.Wewillbringbackourwealth.Andwewillbringbackourdreams.Wewillbuildnewroads,andhighways,andbridges,andairports,andtunnels,andrailwaysallacrossourwonderfulnation.Wewillgetourpeopleoffofwelfareandbacktowork–rebuildingourcountrywithAmericanhandsandAmericanlabor.Wewillfollowtwosimplerules:BuyAmericanandHireAmerican.Wewillseekfriendshipandgoodwillwiththenationsoftheworld–butwedosowiththeunderstandingthatitistherightofallnationstoputtheirowninterestsfirst.Wedonotseektoimposeourwayoflifeonanyone,butrathertoletitshineasanexampleforeveryonetofollow.Wewillreinforceoldalliancesandformnewones–andunitethecivilizedworldagainstRadicalIslamicTerrorism,whichwewilleradicatecompletelyfromthefaceoftheEarth.AtthebedrockofourpoliticswillbeatotalallegiancetotheUnitedStatesofAmerica,andthroughourloyaltytoourcountry,wewillrediscoverourloyaltytoeachother.Whenyouopenyourhearttopatriotism,thereisnoroomforprejudice.TheBibletellsus,howgoodandpleasantitis
