Culturalglobalization,whichisadirectconsequenceofeconomicglobalization,ridsChinaofitsclosedculturalsystemandleadsitintoamulticulturalsociety.ChinesecultureisthemainbodyoftheConfuciancultureasakindofethnicculture.However,withinformationandeconomicintegration,culturalexchangewarmsupquickly.Meanwhile,allkindsofforeignculturesareflockingintoChina.Standingonthestreet,youcanseeMcDonald’sandKFCeverywhere.EventheirpassengervolumesarelargerthanthosebreakfaststoresinChina.MostpeopleadmitthattheywouldrathereatKFCanddon’twanttoeatChinaclassicbreakfast.Maybebecauseit’ssomethingnew.Inthesameway,Japaneseanime,AmericanmoviesandSouthKoreandramasspreadtoChineseuniversitycampuses,causingasensation.Chinesestudentsarecrazyaboutthosefreshcultures.Someevenareproudofknowingbetterthanothers.Asaresult,domesticanimationandtheChineseclassicgetintorisks.Inthismulticulturalsociety,massesofrichandcolorfulethnicculturesgettogetherinameltingpot.TheseforeignculturesshockChinesecultureconstantlyattheirdifferentideasandcustoms.Inthecase,howtodealwiththeimpactofglobalizationandhowtoprotectanddevelopChinesetraditionalculture,thesearehottopicswhichcausethehighattentionofpolicyandpublicopinion.Shouldwepromoteculturalintegrationorinsistofculturaldiversity?Inaperiodthattheworldisincreasinglybecomingone,it’sadvisableforustotakeanopenattitudetoforeigncultures.Onlyafterwedointhisway,canwecatchanecessaryconditionforlocalcultureofitssurvivalanddevelopment.Asweallknow,ChinesetraditionalcultureisthespiritualandmaterialwealththeChinesenationancestorscreated.Passingdownfromgenerationtogeneration,itisadistinctnationalcharacteristicofthelonghistoryoftheculture.WemusttakeinmindthatourcultureistheChinesenationseveralthousandyearscivilizationofcrystallization.Itisoursuperiorculture,whichistheothernationalculturecannotreplace.Accordingtothis,thereisnopossibilitythatweagreewithculturalintegration.Onceethnicculturescomeintointegration,ournationalculturewillloseitsuniquecharacteristicsandtheethnicsuperioritywillalsodisappear.What’smore,theculturalintegrationmakestheworldculturebiggardenbecomesingleandboring.Therefore,Chineseculturewayforthefuturedevelopmentisboundtoemphasizeandinheritthenationalculturalessence.Butthisdoesnotmeanthatotherethnicculturesmeannothingtous.Weshouldmakeitclearthatforeigncultureshaveessenceanddregs.Weshouldtreatthemquitesensiblyandnotextremely.Totaketheessenceanddiscardthedregs,wewillabsorbthemankindadvancedcivilizationachievementsfromforeigncultures.Allinall,opinionly,IhavetheideathatChineseauthoritiesshouldencourageculturaldiversity.Byintroducingotherexcellentethniccultures,ourtraditionalculturecanberichedanddevelopedwell.
