Asarepresentativeofthenewthings,popmusicbecomesmoreandmorerelatedwithteenagers.Thedistinctive,strongcharactersofpopmusichaveagreatinfluenceontheyounggeneration.Thereexistsagreatneedtoanalysisthephenomenontomaketeenagershaveabetterandclearunderstandingofpopmusicandshowthebenefitofgoodside.Withreasonabletheoreticalfoundationandresearchmethods,itisfeasibleandpracticalformetodotheresearchofinfluencesofpopmusiconteenagers.Iwillanalysisthepaperfromthreeaspects:firstly,Iwillfocusonthereasonsforthepopularityofpopmusic,toillustratethecommonfeathersbetweenpopmusicandteenagers.Secondly,Iwillfocusonthedetailsofinfluencesofpopmusicfromitspositiveandnegativeeffects.Tomakeitclearthattheredoesexistgoodandbadsidesbypresentingrealexamples.Thirdly,effectivemeasuresshouldbetakentomakegooduseofpopmusicwhichareavailableforteenagerstotake.Allthesefactorsconvincemeofthefeasibilityoftheresearch.1.ReasonsforthepopularityofpopmusicamongteenagersPopmusic,asafashionphenomenonappearingaroundus,hasitsownspecialfigurestoattractmanyyoungteenagers.Atthesametime,teenagersobviouslylikethisnewbrandattraction.Dengxiangqun,LuhailiandLiuchang(2004)alsosuggestedthatweshouldpaymoreattentiontotherelationshipbetweenpopmusicandteenagers.1.1FeaturesofpopmusicThekeypointthatpopmusicissopopularisthepopularity,itscommonreflectiononpeople.Middleton,Richard(1990)mentionedthattheordinaryspreadofpopmusic,nomatterinrestaurants,café,orclubsoranywhereelse,youcanfinditjustrightbesideyou.Popmusichasbecomeanentertainmentamongallagesincludingteenagers.Secondly,mostpopmusicsongsderivefromdailylife,closetothereality;theyexpresstheinneremotionsofpeopleasthereflectionoftheirthoughts.Thismusiciseasytounderstand,tolearn,torememberanddescend.Thirdly,popmusicshowsitsstronginfectivity,emphasizestheimportanceofcommunicationandtheinteractionwithlisteners.1.2.CharacteristicsofteenagersIt’sthenatureofteenagerstobecuriousaboutthefancyworldandthiscuriositydrivesthemtotryeverysinglenewappearingthatintereststheirattentions.What’smore,theupdatingandchangeablepopmusicfitstheirpursuitfornewthings.2.ThespecificinfluencesofpopmusiconteenagersAstheyaresocloselyrelated,it’sundoubtedthatpopmusichasspecificinfluencesonteenagers.Andhere,twomainpartswillbestatedasfollowings:2.1.Forpositiveeffects.Firstly,popmusicisoftenusuallyconsistingofrelativelyshort,simplesongswithbeatsandmelodies.Asoneofthebiggestfeaturesofpopmusic,it’srelativelysimpleforteenagerstocatchtherhythms,thentounderstandthelyrics,toremember,tolearn,topassonfromonetoanother.Gradually,theirmusicsensibilitywillbepracticedandimproved.Andthat’sthebeginningofbecomingagreatmusician.Secondly,weseekforthehealthandstabledevelopmentofpopmusic,itcanhelpustofindapeacefulcornerinmusicaswellasinourlife.“Thepositivemessagestransmittedfrompopmusiccouldhelptoformrightchoicesofteenagers,tostimulatethemtomakewisedecisions”(K,1995,p629),nomatterintheemotionorbehaviorcontrol.Ontheinfluenceofpositiveattitude,teenagersareencouragedtotakerightactions.Thirdly,teenagersareinaspecialperiod.Theycanbeeasilyaffectedbytheirsurroundingenvironment.Asoneofthecloselyrelatedelements,popmusicassiststodeveloptheirpersonalities.Itleadstothegooddevelopmentofteenagers’self-control,self-dependence.2.2Fornegativeeffects.Firstly,mostofthepopmusicsongstendtoexpressromances,loveratherthansomethingmoremeaningful,moresignificant.However,asteenagersareduringaspecialperiod—adolescence,theyarerelativelysentimentalandfrail.Theyusedtoseethingsamplificatory.Theiremotions,feelings,thoughtsaremorechangeable,whichwillcausethechangeofactionsorbehaviors.mostofall,teenagersaremisleadingtonarrowtheirfocuses,thedevelopmentofteenagers’horizonwillbelimited.Secondly,violentscenesinMVswillhavebadinfluencesonteenagers,whichbringsouttheviolenttendencyorteenagerswillimitatethesescenesandactionsthatoccurredinMVs.Lyricswithunprintable,vilewords,willhavebadmisleadingonteenagers’wordschoiceanddailyspeech,theymayhavethehabitofsayingvilewordswithoutanyfurtherconsideration.Misunderstandingsormistakesoraccidentswillhappenbecauseoftheseimproperchoicesofwords.Teenagerswouldbeinmoredangeroussituation.Inall,theaffectsontheirspeechesaswellasbehaviorsarequitehuge.3.ProperattitudetopopmusicWecan’tmakepopmusicjustwalkaway,ordisappearinteenagers’world;however,weshouldtakeappropriatemeasurestomakeitintherightuse.3.1ForparentsTheyshouldsetagoodexample,tomakeclearstatementsabouttheproperapplicationsofpopmusic.Whenteenagersareathome,it’stheirresponsibilitytomakeahealthenvironmentonmusicchoosingandmusichabit.3.2ForteachersTheyshouldleadthemtohavearightattitudeanduseofpopmusictostimulatetheirgrowingupwherevertheyare.Teachersshouldtrytouseproperpopmusicteachinga
