Goodafternoon,allappraisercommitteemembers,Longtimenosee,CedarCaiandzhou,sonicetoseeyouallagain.it’smygreatesthonortobeheretopresentmyresearchresultstoallofyouIam****andmysupervisoris***.Withhisencouragementandguidance,Ihavefinishedmypaper.Herecomesmypresentationandanycorrectionandsuggestionswillbewarmlywelcome.ThetitleofmypaperisTheStudyofNetwork-basedEnglishReadingTeachinginPrimarySchoolsTodayI’mgoingtodiscussthreequestionswithyou.WhydidIchoosethistopicformystudy?HowdidIdesignmyresearch?AndWhat’retheresults?Andinmythesis,andIdividethemintofivechapters.First,why?Nowadays,someproblemsoftheEnglishreadingteachingshouldbementionedinregardtothelargeclassofprimaryschoolteaching.Suchastheloweffectivenessofclassmanagement,thelargerestrictionofcommunicating,inparticular,one-on-onecommunication;andtheactualteachingmethodsusedbyteachers,includingthesimpleteachingform,thelittleinformationthatistaught,theuntimelyfeedbackandthepoorstudyeffectiveness.Concerningtheaboveproblems,Iattempttousethenetworkenvironmenttoteachreadingbetterinprimaryschools,Threeresearchquestionshavebeenraisedinthestudy:1)DoestheNetwork-basedreadingteachingaffectthestudents’learningattitude?2)CantheNetwork-basedreadingteachingraisethestudents’learninginterest?3)CantheNetwork-basedreadingteachingimprovethestudents’Englishreadingability?UndertheguidanceofKrashen’sInputHypothesis,Krashen’sAffectiveTheory,theConstructiveLearningTheoryandtheCooperativeLearningTheory,aswellasonthebaseofthenewEnglishcurriculumreformandtheadvantagesofmultimedianetworks,Ibegantostartmyresearch,howdidIdoit?iselected90studentsinaprimaryschooltodomyresearchsothaticanexperiencethetheories.Thestudentsweredividedrandomlyintotwoclasses(theexperimentalclassandthecontrolclass).Andigavetworeadinglessonsperweekinthesetwoclasses.itwasanimportantjobtoselectreadingmaterialsforimplementingthereadingactivitiesandadministeringtests.ineedtoconsiderthreeaspects:language\lengthandinterest.AndIadoptedOn-lineEFLatElementarySchoolasthebasalmaterialandsomeinterestingreadingmaterialsfromThePEPtextbookwereusedassupplementarymaterials.Alltheexperimentaldatawerecollectedthroughdifferentinstruments:Aquestionnairewasdistributedto45studentsinexperimentalclass;90studentsinExperimentClassandControlClasswererequiredtocompletethepre-testinordertoinvestigatewhetherbothclasseswereequivalentinpreviousreading.Aclassroomobservationandteachers’interviewweredesignedtogetthedataofthefollowingaspects,suchasthestudents’learningattitudeandreadinginterestunderthenetworkenvironment.Finally,aftertheexperiment,thepost-testandpost-experimentquestionnaireswerecarriedout.TheywereanalyzedbySPSSWithexperimentnearlyoneyear,Ifoundoutthatintheexperimentalclassthestudentsperformedbetterinthepost-testthaninthepre-test.Therewasatendencyofsharpincreaseintheirreadingperformance,thestudents’Englishabilitywasimproved.Andwiththeexperimentprogressing,studentsshowedmoreinterestinnetwork-basedreadingclass.Theresultsofthisstudyhighlightthevalueofthenetwork-basedreadingteaching.Itcanbesurethatusingthenetworkenvironmenttoteachreadinginprimaryschoolispracticalandefficient.Atthesametime,somepracticalsuggestionsofnetwork-basedEnglishreadingteachinghavebeenmadeforprimaryEnglishteachersaccordingtotheconclusionoftheexperiment.Thesuggestionsareasfollows:1)raisingthestudents’readinginterestbytherealsituation,2)improvingtheliteracyofboththeteachersandthestudents,3)encouragingthestudentstouseeffectivereadingstrategiesandskills,4)designingdifferentreadingactivitiesinnetworkclassroomcanbehelpfultocontrolthestudents,5)exploringothernetwork-basedactivities.Althoughthepresentthesishasobtainedsomefindings,wearefullyawarethattherearesomemethodologicallimitationsleft,whichshouldbeavoidedinfutureresearch.1、Thenumberofthechosenstudentsisnotbigenough,2、Thepresentresearchdidnottreatotherfactorsunderthepresentconditions.Intheend,IshouldliketosaythatNBLThasbeenvaluableexperienceformewhichhasgivenmeachancetoexposethestudentstomoderneducationalconceptsandnetwork-basedtechnology,refreshedmyapproachesandattitudestowardsEnglishteachingandupgradedmyreadingteachingskillsinclassroomteaching.Finally,Iwouldliketoexpressmydeepestthankstoallofyourattention.Iamhonoredtobegiventheopportunitytoadvancemyteachingskillsandinthefuture,Ishallcontinuetodoso,enablingourfuturegenerationstodevelop.That’sall.Andtimeforyourquestions
