奥巴马演讲录(英文版)本书汇集了美国新任总统奥巴马的60多篇演讲,其中包括今天1月20日发表的就职演说,“VictoryNight”,是奥巴马经过54轮辩论,最终获得民主党总统提名后在芝加哥发表的演讲;“AWorldthatStandsAsOne”,是奥巴马在柏林面对20玩群众发表的演讲,“AMorePerfectUnion”,是关于奥巴马关于种族问题的演讲。另外演讲还涉及教育、医疗、伊拉克战争、妇女参政、退伍军人等问题。这些演讲极为精彩,至今为普通美国人津津乐道。第一部分BestSpeechesOFUSPresidentBarackObamaPART1ObamaInauguralAddressJanuary20,2009Myfellowcitizens:Istandheretodayhumbledbythetaskbeforeus,gratefulforthetrustyouhavebestowed,mindfulofthesacrificesbornebyourancestors.IthankPresidentBushforhisservicetoournation,aswellasthegenerosityandcooperationhehasshownthroughoutthistransition.Forty?fourAmericanshavenowtakenthepresidentialoath.Thewordshavebeenspokenduringrisingtidesofprosperityandthestillwatersofpeace.Yet,everysooftentheoathistakenamidstgatheringcloudsandragingstorms.Atthesemoments,Americahascarriedonnotsimplybecauseoftheskillorvisionofthoseinhighoffice,butbecauseWethePeoplehaveremainedfaithfultotheidealsofourforbearers,andtruetoourfoundingdocuments.Soithasbeen.SoitmustbewiththisgenerationofAmericans.Thatweareinthemidstofcrisisisnowwellunderstood.Ournationisatwar,againstafar?reachingnetworkofviolenceandhatred.Oureconomyisbadlyweakened,aconsequenceofgreedandirresponsibilityonthepartofsome,butalsoourcollectivefailuretomakehardchoicesandpreparethenationforanewage.Homeshavebeenlost;jobsshed;businessesshuttered.Ourhealthcareistoocostly;ourschoolsfailtoomany;andeachdaybringsfurtherevidencethatthewaysweuseenergystrengthenouradversariesandthreatenourplanet.Thesearetheindicatorsofcrisis,subjecttodataandstatistics.Lessmeasurablebutnolessprofoundisasappingofconfidenceacrossourland—anaggingfearthatAmerica’sdeclineisinevitable,andthatthenextgenerationmustloweritssights.TodayIsaytoyouthatthechallengeswefacearereal.Theyareseriousandtheyaremany.Theywillnotbemeteasilyorinashortspanoftime.Butknowthis,America—theywillbemet.Onthisday,wegatherbecausewehavechosenhopeoverfear,unityofpurposeoverconflictanddiscord.Onthisday,wecometoproclaimanendtothepettygrievancesandfalsepromises,therecriminationsandwornoutdogmas,thatforfartoolonghavestrangledourpolitics.Weremainayoungnation,butinthewordsofScripture,thetimehascometosetasidechildishthings.Thetimehascometoreaffirmourenduringspirit;tochooseourbetterhistory;tocarryforwardthatpreciousgift,thatnobleidea,passedonfromgenerationtogeneration:theGod?givenpromisethatallareequal,allarefree,andalldeserveachancetopursuetheirfullmeasureofhappiness.Inreaffirmingthegreatnessofournation,weunderstandthatgreatnessisneveragiven.Itmustbeearned.Ourjourneyhasneverbeenoneofshort?cutsorsettlingforless.Ithasnotbeenthepathforthefaint?hearted—forthosewhopreferleisureoverwork,orseekonlythepleasuresofrichesandfame.Rather,ithasbeentherisk?takers,thedoers,themakersofthings—somecelebratedbutmoreoftenmenandwomenobscureintheirlabor,whohavecarriedusupthelong,ruggedpathtowardsprosperityandfreedom.Forus,theypackeduptheirfewworldlypossessionsandtraveledacrossoceansinsearchofanewlife.Forus,theytoiledinsweatshopsandsettledtheWest;enduredthelashofthewhipandplowedthehardearth.Forus,theyfoughtanddied,inplaceslikeConcordandGettysburg;NormandyandKheSahn.Timeandagainthesemenandwomenstruggledandsacrificedandworkedtilltheirhandswererawsothatwemightliveabetterlife.TheysawAmericaasbiggerthanthesumofourindividualambitions;greaterthanallthedifferencesofbirthorwealthorfaction.Thisisthejourneywecontinuetoday.Weremainthemostprosperous,powerfulnationonEarth.Ourworkersarenolessproductivethanwhenthiscrisisbegan.Ourmindsarenolessinventive,ourgoodsandservicesnolessneededthantheywerelastweekorlastmonthorlastyear.Ourcapacityremainsundiminished.Butourtimeofstandingpat,ofprotectingnarrowinterestsandputtingoffunpleasantdecisions—thattimehassurelypassed.Startingtoday,wemustpickourselvesup,dustourselvesoff,andbeginagaintheworkofremakingAmerica.Foreverywherewelook,thereisworktobedone.Thestateoftheeconomycallsforaction,boldandswift,andwewillact—notonlytocreatenewjobs,buttolayanewfoundationforgrowth.Wewillbuildtheroadsandbridges,theelectricgridsanddigitallinesthatfeedourcommerceandbindustogether.Wewillrestoresciencetoitsrightfulplace,andwieldtechnology’swonderstoraisehealthcare’squalityandloweritscost.Wewillharnessthesunandthewindsandthesoiltofuelourcarsandrunourfactories.Andwewilltransformourschoolsandcollegesanduniversitiestomeetthedemandsofanewage.Allthiswecando.Andallthiswewilldo.Now,therearesomewhoquestionthescaleofourambitions—whosuggestthatoursystemcannottoleratetoomanybigplans.Theirmemoriesareshort.Fortheyhaveforgottenwhatthiscountryhasalreadydone;whatfreemenandwomencanachievewhenimaginationisjoinedtocommonpurpose,andnecessitytocourage.Whatthecynicsfailtounderstandisthatthegroundhasshiftedbeneaththem—thatthestalepoliticalargumentsthathaveconsumedusforsolongnolongerapply.Thequestionweasktodayisnotwhetherourgovernmentistoobigortoosmall,butwhetheritworks—whetherithelpsfamiliesfindjobsatadecentwage,caretheycanafford,aretirementthatisdignified.Wheretheanswerisyes,weintendtomoveforward.Wheretheanswerisno,programswillend.Andthoseofuswhomanagethepublic’sdollarswillbeheldto
