Whataretheaimsofacademicstudyandhowcantheybeachieved?15国金刘泽丰2015120101011Nowadays,educationisconsideredasanextremelyimportantroleinmodernsociety,especiallytheacademicstudyinuniversityeducation.Differentwithprimaryschoolandmiddleschool,thewayofeducationinuniversityismoreopenwhichmeansthatitisnotonlynolongerfocussoonthetransferofknowledge,butalsofocusmoreonteachingyouthewayyouthinkandact,andthisisacademicstudy.Generallyspeaking,there'realotofaimsofacademicstudylikereadingability,teamwork,criticalthinking,creativethinkingandsoon.FromwhereIstand,IconsiderthatthemostsignificantaimiscreativethinkingwhichIextremelywanttoachieveitduringmyfour-year’sstudyinuniversity.Firstly,toachievetheacademicaimofcreativethinking,wemustunderstandthatwhatcreativethinkingis.Creativethinkingisaconsciousefforttobreakawayfromtraditionalthoughtpatterninordertoexplorenewpossibilities.Inshort,therearetwoprocesses,oneisbreakoldpattern,andanotheriscreatingnewideas.Accordingthese,wecancompletelyachievetheaimofcreativethinkingthroughthesetwoprocesses.BreakOldPatternAsthesayinggoes:Thefirststepisalwaysthehardest.Themostdifficultpartforustoformthecreativethinkingisthefirstprocess:Breakoldpattern.Causeourmindshavebeenimprisonedtosomeextentbyourparent’sviewsorthetextbookwhichwestudiedintheschool.Thinkaboutthat,whyNewtonwastheonlyonenotedtheapplefelldownandproposedhistheoryofgravitybutnotsomeothers?Sowecanrealizethathowstrongthepoweroftheconfineofthoughts.Fortunately,ourNewtonshowsusthatwestillhavesomewaystobreaktheoldpattern.Inmyopinion,themostimportantpartinbreakingoldpatternistohaveathoughtofall-aroundandmulti-perspective.Iguessthatifweholdthiskindofthoughtwhenwefacingsomeoldpatternwhichwewanttobreakit,theprobabilityofsuccesswillbeenhancedgreatly.AsimpleexampleisDarwin.In1859,Darwinwrotethebook“TheOriginofSpecies”whichshockedtheworld.However,everyonelaughedathimevenattackedhimatthattimeforthereasonthathisevolutiontheorydeniedthecreationismcompletely.So,theexperienceofDarwintellusthat,despitewemaybeattackedifwewanttobreaktheoldpattern,wecanbreaktheoldpatternintopieceseasilywiththethoughtofall-aroundandmulti-perspective,andalittlecourage.CreateNewIdeasInthefirstprocess,wehavebrokentheoldpatternintopiecessuccessfully.Nowwhatweshoulddointhesecondprocessistoputthepiecessplicedtogetheragainwithourownways.Inthissplicingprocess,wemustholdanewideaswhichcompletelydifferentwiththetraditionalviews.Asweallknow,allroadleadtoRome.Thereisnootherwaytodevelopourskillofcreatingnewideas,unlesswedevelopthehabitofthinkingeveryday,bytheway,thisthinkingisnotthemechanicalthinking.Itisdivergentthinkingmode,forexample,maybewewillbetoldthathowweshoulddowhenwefacingsomeproblemsbyourteacherorparents.Inordertotrainacreativethinking,wemusttryanotherwaywhichisdifferentwiththewayeveryoneagreed.Ofcause,wemayalwaysbedefeatedbythetruth.But,ifwekeeptrainingthisskillandthenwewillfindthatwewilldevelopitastimegoesonbecauseEdisonhasfailedover8,000timesbeforeheinvitedtheelectriclight!
