Issue1241Standard2.7.4STANDARD2.7.4WINEANDWINEPRODUCTPurposeThisStandardsetsgeneraldefinitionsforwineandwineproductandprovidespermissionsfortheadditionofcertainfoodsduringtheproductionofwine.Editorialnote:TheAustralianWineandBrandyCorporationAct1980andtheRegulationsmadeunderthatActshouldbeconsulted.TheActandtheRegulationscontainprovisionswhich,forexample,regulate–(a)theuseofgeographicalindicationsforwine,sparklingwineandfortifiedwine;(b)limitedderogationsfromtherequirementsinthisStandardforwine,sparklingwineandfortifiedwineforexport;(c)blendingrulesforwine,sparklingwineandfortifiedwine;and(d)thecompositionalandotherrequirementsforwine,sparklingwineandfortifiedwineimportedintoAustraliafromcountrieswithwhichAustraliahasawinetradingagreementprescribedbytheAct.ForwinesproducedinNewZealand,theWineAct2003,andtheRegulations,SpecificationsandNoticesmadeunderthatAct,shouldalsobeconsulted.Thesecontainprovisionsthatregulatethemaking,supplyandexportofwineinNewZealand.TheNewZealandGeographicalIndications(WinesandSpirits)RegistrationAct2006appliestogeographicalindicationsinrelationtowine.TheActwillcommenceonadatetobeproclaimedbytheGovernor-GeneralofNewZealand.TableofProvisions1Interpretation2AdditionofotherfoodstowineduringproductionClauses1InterpretationInthisStandard–winemeanstheproductofthecompleteorpartialfermentationoffreshgrapes,oramixtureofthatproductandproductsderivedsolelyfromgrapes.wineproductmeansafoodcontainingnolessthan700mL/LofwineasdefinedinthisStandard,whichhasbeenformulated,processed,modifiedormixedwithotherfoodssuchthatitisnotwine.2AdditionofotherfoodstowineduringproductionThefollowingfoodsmaybeaddedtowineduringproduction–(a)grapejuiceandgrapejuiceproducts;and(b)sugars;and(c)brandyorotherspirit;and(d)water,wherethewaterisnecessarytoincorporateanypermittedfoodadditiveorprocessingaid.FederalRegisterofLegislativeInstrumentsF2011C00617Issue1242Standard2.7.4{THISPAGEINTENTIONALLYLEFTBLANK}FederalRegisterofLegislativeInstrumentsF2011C00617
