2、ionsGravitywithGravitas:ASolutiontotheBorderPuzzleByJAMESE.ANDERSONANDERICVANWINCOOP*Gravityequationshavebeenwidelyusedtoinfertradefloweffectsofvariousinstitutionalarrangements.Weshowthatestimatedgravityequationsdonothaveatheoreticalfoundation.Thisimpliesboththatestimationsuffersfromomittedvariablesbiasandthatcomparativestaticsanalysisisunfounded.Wedevelopamethodthat(i)consistentlyandefficientlyestimatesatheoreticalgravityequationand(ii)correctlycalculatesthecomparativestaticsoftradefrictions.We。
